Heavyweight Potion

An example of the dangers of housing a brewery underneath an alchemist’s workshop, the heavyweight potion is the result of a batch of dwarven stout ale that was contaminated by an upstairs neighbor’s spilt cauldron. While the consistency leaves much to be desired, the potion actually has a rather pleasant, malty flavor that finishes very smooth.

When Vindri Kegson, the proprietor of the Underbelly tavern first served this to his patrons, it was an immediate hit. Unfortunately the damage caused by a crowd of drunken, super-powered dwarves turned out to be quite costly for Vindri. Nevertheless, he later worked with his neighbor to recreate the concoction and solid it at a premium price to visiting adventurers.

Eventually the recipe was picked up outside Vindri’s hometown, and now can be found in marketplaces around the world. The exotic ingredients necessary in its creation (including coldstone hops, basilisk saliva, and powdered black fungus) are hard to acquire on the surface, leading to a heftier price tag outside of dwarven cities.

Details

This potion always feels heavier than you would guess by looking at it. The thick, sludge-like liquid within can be difficult to choke down, but will grant those who consume it with all the strength and grace of a full grown rhinoceros.

After consuming this potion:

  • Your weight and carrying capacity are doubled (although your size does not change)
  • Your movement speed is reduced by half
  • You cannot be knocked prone or moved against your will
  • If you would add your Strength modifier to the damage roll for a weapon attack, you may add twice your Strength modifier instead
